Afternoon Teas on the Terrace
More from Songs of Praise Songs of Praise featured Knaresborough again on Sunday 11th July. Many people have commented on what a fabulous programme it was. It really showed Knaresborough off to its very best. One person commented to me that If they didn't live in Knaresborough already then they would want to after having watched that programme. Another person said that the Tourist Information couldn't have done anything better to promote Knaresborough than our friends at Songs of Praise did. The St. John's Trebles sang a version of an Irish Blessing by Paul Leddington-Wright, Henshaw's were featured as was the Bed Race and St. Michael's Hospice (who the Knaresborough Churches Together Team were raising money for. Christian Forshaw and the Sanctuary Ensemble performed a feature piece too. Christian began his musical career at St. John's church in Knaresborough so it was great to see him back home.
Christian Forshawʼs Sanctuary Ensemble return with another spellbinding performance featuring soaring saxophone solos and the sublime voice of Grace Davidson (The Sixteen). As heard on BBC TV, BBC Radio and Classic FM.

Ordination to the Priesthood
This year I am to be ordained as a priest. So far I have been operating in this parish as curate and deacon. Curate simply identifies that I am still learning in what many would recognise as an apprenticeship model, that role has not changed and my curacy is due to end in 2013. The role of a deacon for many is a preparation year before entering into the priesthood, although some people are called to serve as a permanent deacon and that is a very valuable ministry. I have really enjoyed my first year of authorised ministry here and look forward to moving that on to the next step of my ministry here with you all. The date for my priesting has now been made official and it is Monday, 5th July at 7pm. I hope you will be able to join me on this very special occasion. Darryl.
St. Michael's Hospice, Harrogate
This year the Crazy Curate (aka Rev'd Darryl Hall) completed the Great Knaresborough Bed Race with six really great people. The team represented Churches Together in Knaresborough. The training was tough, the day was tougher, but we did it and we have the evidence to prove it. Click below to see photographs, reports and information about the Churches Together Team and the Great Knaresborough Bed Race http://www.knaresboroughanglicanteam.org.uk/bed-race-training-pictures/
Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored us for this very worthy charity, and for supporting us practically and in prayer. Darryl.

St. John's Choir Web-Site
You might be interested to know that St. John's Choir have their own web-site. Our collective choirs (from Holy Trinity, St. Mary's and St. John's) were reckoned to be 'The Best Parish Church Choir' that Paul Leddington-Wright (Songs of Praise conducter) had come across. If you are interested in the choir please look at their web-site (please note that this web-site is for St. John's choir only). They have an incredible social life as well as being very valued for their wonderful contributions during our services. Many thanks to all those who work so hard to get our choirs to the 'High' standards that they are (that is aimed at all three of our choirs not just St. John's).
