Harroagte and District Women's Aid
Harrogate and District Women's Aid What is Domestic Abuse? Many women experience abuse from someone they have been in a close personal relationship with. This can include their husband, ex-partner or another family member. Often their children are also affected by the abuse. Domestic abuse is rarely a one-off event and tends to escalate over time. The abuse can take many forms.
How can Harrogate and District Women's Aid help? We offer free, confidential support and information to women and children who are experiencing or have experienced domestic abuse.
Refuge Accomodation We can provide safe, temporary accomodation for up to eight women and their children. The accomodation provides a comfortable, friendly, supportive environment where women and children can start to rebuild their lives. Children's Workers work specifically with the children to help them come to terms with the effects of abuse. As affiliated members of Women's Aid Federation of England, we can refer women to refuges in other areas of the country if necessary. Outreach Support We offer practical and emotional support to women in the community who are still involved in, or wanting to leave abusive situations or who are still suffering the effects of previous abuse. Women can access support at the outreach office or a neutral location, or we can visit at home if it is safe to do so. We also provide aftercare support to women who have left the refuge or other temporary accomodation to help them intergrate into the community. All our trained workers are non-judgemental and aim to empower women to make their own choices. How To Contact Us: Refuge Accomodation 01423 8530078 (Mon - Fri during office hours.
