Daily Office

Monday

Daily Office
Since the days of the Early Church, Christians have gathered together to worship, pray and read the Scriptures. The Daily Offices, sustained in monastic communities and by the clergy, combines these three elements in services that are both simple and enriching. Church of England Clergy, as part of our ordination vows, promise to read these Offices morning and evening. The Clergy of the Knaresborough Team meet each weekday (other than Wednesday when there are regular Communion Services) to say the Office and pray. We warmly invite anyone who wishes to do so, to join us. Each Office lasts a maximum of 30 minutes.

Please join us - but remember the church heating will not be on.
Every Monday at 9:00am in Holy Trinity (first Monday of the month in St Mary's, Goldsborough).

Every Friday at 9am in the St Edmund Chapel in St John's Church, Knaresborough.

Please also note that Holy Communion is offered through the week as follows:

   Tuesday

Holy Communion
This early morning service has prayers of intercessions and Bible readings but does not include hymns. In the sharing of bread and wine, the service helps us to remember Jesus Christ's death and resurrection. We have this service in the thirteenth century, St Edmund's Chapel (which can be found inside St John the Baptist, Knaresborough).
Every Tuesday at 8:30am.

Wednesday

Holy Communion
Holy Communion, Book of Common Prayer style, is a service which shows off the beauty of the traditional English language. There are no hymns in this service and for those familiar with The Book of Common Prayer we use Order Two. This much loved service with its use of Old English lends itself beautifully to a church with this much history. This service is held at St John's, Knaresborough.
Every Wednesday at 11am.

An alternative to this style of Daily Prayer is the style that is used by the Northumbria Community. This has a much more Celtic feel to it. If you would like to try this then right click on the following link and go to 'open in new window' and follow the instructions.
