Contemplative Meditation

Contemplative Meditation

Christian meditation, as practised in the Fellowship of Meditation, is a way of deepening our relationship with God. Most of us long to be more aware of Christ, who lives within us and to experience the power of his Holy Spirit re-making us in his image.

We take a short sentence which expresses some Biblical truth about God and use it as a focus for our minds and trust that the Holy Spirit will take these truths deeper into our hearts. As we become still in body and mind so we find that we become more aware of God within us and more aware of ourselves as he sees us. Throughout scripture we read of God's desire to transform and change people and through Contemplative Meditation, putting aside our own thoughts, ideas and assumptions we allow God to slowly but surely do this. Because the Holy Spirit is not limited to one person we are also able to use meditation as a way of praying for others.

A new group was formed in Knaresborough in October. Would you like to join us? If you would like to know more please ring me, Pat Bullamore, on 01423 864484.
