Holy Trinity 2010 Christmas Fair

HolyTrinity Christmas Fair

All those who visited the Christmas Market at Holy Trinity Church Hall in Briggate, Knaresborough on Saturday or Sunday 4th/5th December were able to enjoy delicious food and a warm welcome. Some just relaxed with a hot drink after trudging through the snow and ice.

There were games, competitions and even a special guest, 'Father Christmas!' You could purchase a wide selection of cards, jams and preserves, cakes, books and bric-a-brac. One of our congregation had donated to the raffle a beautiful seascape painting which she had painted herself.

Many local people and some visitors from far away helped to raise £1,169 towards a new heating fund for the church (brrrrr). Thank you to all for making the weekend a great success and for the fellowship we shared.

During Sunday afternoon many young people, parents and visitors attended our Christingle service and enjoyed the carols and bible readings. The service ended with the candles being lit and the church lights lowered for ‘Away in a Manger’. We were joined at the service by a life-sized nativity set of Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, a shepherd and a sheep who spent the previous day in the church porch .........there having been “no room for them inside.”

The whole weekend brought right to the front of our minds the many aspects but just one purpose of the very first Christmas.
