The Karuna Nilayam Girls' Home

We have been trying to help the Church care for the residents of the Karuna Nilayam Girls' Home, whose buildings in Kilinochchi were completely destroyed in the recent climax of the civil conflict. Six of them were killed, and the rest are devoid of resources. The Anglican Church community (who are themselves very poor), has to house, feed and clothe the girls, make sure they have what they need to go to school, and help them to recover from the trauma they have suffered. We have endeavoured to do what we can to help them with this.

This would not have been possible without the leadership, drive and determination of Marion Clark who took the initiative to seek justice and obey Jesus' command to 'love one another as I have loved you.'

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Marion, her husband Ken and all who have been involved in this project.

Dear Marion,
Herewith I attached some pictures of Karuna Nilayam orphanage where you have sent the donation to look after the needy. We have 40 children at present. We are educating these children at the CMS school at Chundikuli. Children are happy and we were able to provide the basic things with your Donation. Their Orphanage was totally destroyed. We have put them into a renovated building for the moment. Your donation we spent on for the basic items to be purchased -Beds, clothes, utensils, some for renovation, running expenditure; meals and recurrent expenditure.

Thanking You.
Yours in His Service,
Fr.Nesakumar
