The Karuna Nilayam Girls' HomeWe have been trying to help the Church care for the residents of the Karuna Nilayam Girls' Home, whose buildings in Kilinochchi were completely destroyed in the recent climax of the civil conflict. Six of them were killed, and the rest are devoid of resources. The Anglican Church community (who are themselves very poor), has to house, feed and clothe the girls, make sure they have what they need to go to school, and help them to recover from the trauma they have suffered. We have endeavoured to do what we can to help them with this. This would not have been possible without the leadership, drive and determination of Marion Clark who took the initiative to seek justice and obey Jesus' command to 'love one another as I have loved you.' We would like to take this opportunity to thank Marion, her husband Ken and all who have been involved in this project. The Knaresborough Anglican Team.
In an e-mail to Marion, Father Nesakumar wrote:
