St John's Church Hall ProjectThe Hub @ St. John's (The Church Hall Development Project)
Hub @ St John’s is the project name for the refurbishment and modernisation of the Church Hall. The title ‘Hub @ St John’s’ explains exactly what the refurbished Church Hall will provide. The revamped building will make available modern facilities for all current users. It will continue to be the Parish Administration Centre and will be ‘The Hub’ around which the ministry of St John in Knaresborough revolves. We also envisage the facility being made available to the wider community in Knaresborough. The steering committee for the project includes Elizabeth, Ann Littlewood, Bob Baird and Ian Davies and co-opted members as required. Much of the funding will, hopefully, be provided from various grants. However, to apply for these grants we must be able to demonstrate that we are ‘doing our bit’ and that we can continue to fund the ‘Hub’ into the future. Over the coming months there will be a number of fund raising events in support of the project. The events and venues will be announced in the Accord and on this web-page when more details become available. In the meantime the official launch of the ‘Hub @ St John’s Project will take place over the weekend of 18th June 2010 with a Flower Festival supported by other events that are currently being planned. More details will follow as the Festival approaches. Running a ‘100 Club’ draw will provide a cash flow to enable the larger events to take place. Click on the link below for more details of the 100 club. http://www.knaresboroughanglicanteam.org.uk/st-johns-church-hall-project/100-club/ For a number of reasons the physical work on the Church Hall cannot start until after Easter 2011 so we have plenty of time to submit grant applications and raise funds ourselves. The Steering Committee are keen that everyone who uses the Hall has ‘ownership’ of the Project and we will be arranging various meetings to gather fund raising ideas and suggestions about how the facility can be more fully utilised. We look forward to discussing the project with members of the Parish
