Welcome from Reverend Darryl

Welcome From Reverend Darryl Hall

A very warm welcome to this ancient and historic church of St. Mary the Virgin, Goldsborough, where for many generations, Gods people have gathered to mark the great occasions of their lives - to celebrate their joys, and seek comfort in their sorrows. Countless others have nurtured - and continue to nurture - their Christian faith here week by week, as well as celebrating the great Festivals of the Christian church.

We’re part of the 4-church parish of Knaresborough, each with its own distinctive ethos. We hope you’ll browse our web-site and find it interesting and informative - and that we’ll see you soon.

The Parish of Knaresborough say goodbye to Rev John Bullamore as he retires.

The 8th January 2012 was the day that Reverend John Bullamore oficially retired. The Knaresborough Parish has been very blessed to have had his, and his wife (Pat's) ministry over the last three years. On 8th January (John's 'official' final day as a member of the Knaresborough Team) John celebrated a Holy Communion with the Baptism of Annabelle (one of the youngest members of the Goldsborough congregation) and assisted Rev Elizabeth Sewell (Rector) and Bishop John (Bishop of Ripon and Leeds) at a confirmation service. The bishop made the connection of a common theme. The church celebrates the Feast of Epiphany on this Sunday, the day when we remember Christ being revealed to the Gentiles (the Wise Men being the first Gentiles Christ was revealed to, and representetive of all subsequent Gentiles). The Wise men, of course, famous for the long journey they had to make to pay homage to the Christ-Child. Bishop John then went on to explore the theme today of Annabelle being baptised (the ritual start of the Christian journey of faith), the confirmation candidates (Alan, Laura and Matthew (Annabelle's father), a subsequent stage of faith whereby the candidate confirms for themselves the promises and commitments made on their behalf at their baptism, and John's official retirement. You will have noticed that the word 'official' keeps being mentioned, this is because the Christian journey only comes to an end as we draw our last breath, and even then our legacy carries on in those whose lives we have touched. John and Pat have touched many lives during their time here in Goldsborough and Knaresborough. They will be missed, and they go with our love and best wishes as they begin this next step of their journey. Good luck and God bless you both in your future ministries.

With our prayers from all in the Parish of Knaresborough.
